SURVEYING SERVICES

What is a Land Surveyor?

A Professional Land Surveyor is a person who has qualified by education and experience, and who has passed an examination for registration required by the State of Minnesota to practice Land Surveying in Minnesota.

Who will need a Survey?

  • If buying or selling land and the boundary is not clearly defined
  • If building close to an undefined property line
  • If developing the property or conveying a lot from a large tract
  • If a lending institution requires a survey

How much will a Survey cost?

The Surveyor’s fees are dependent upon a number of factors including: the size of the parcel, location of the parcel, the type of vegetation and terrain, accessibility to the parcel and most importantly if there are records of reliable survey monuments in the area.

What information will we need?

  • What is the purpose of the survey
  • A copy of a reliable legal description for the property. Tax descriptions are not a reliable source to be used for surveying purposes.
  • Information about adjoining land owners and disagreements over property lines
  • Understanding who is responsible for payments
